MARTINE FINISHES HER RAE @ the 2009 NAT'L!
|
|
MARTINE has her RAE! She finished it this year at the Great Dane National Specialty
Show. Click HERE for some new about our time at the National in
2009. Dr. Brox again was victorious with more than one Dane there! Martine finished her Rally Excellent (RE) title the same day she completes her Companion Dog (CD) title--and at the Great Dane National Specialty Show last year! Congrats to Dr. Broxann Spencer, who also took Highest Scoring Harlequin at the Obedience/Rally Trials at the National, as well as winning <G>oldest handler too. Broxann also finished an RN on her nine month old Mantle dog Rene (CHROMA Heart Of The Renegade RN) that day. Congrats-that's THREE TITLES in ONE DAY! WoW !!! CHROMA NORMANDY INVASION CD RAE CGC Martine is consistently ranked in the top five in Rally. |

Sadly Martine fell ill soon after the National & Broxann's talented girl was gone by Xmas. Contact CHROMA if you wish to contribute to her memorial. |
DARE FINISHES HIS UD!
FLASH! GUIDON's BABY BOY moved quickly with Dina thru Novice and Open and finished
his UD before he was three!
Dina Whitehouse just finished Dare's UD when he was three. He finished his CD with an all breed HIT as a two year
old, then moved up the next day to Open, where he debuted by winning his class, then finished his CDX in one single
weekend in January. He finished his UD with three First Places and two scores in the 190s.
He is HIT CHROMA WHD
ALLONS!, UD, TDI, CGC: Working Therapy Dog & Obedience "star" of the future! His scores saw him ranked in the Top 10.
HE IS ONLY THE 2nd Male Dane in breed history to get an ALL BREED HIGH IN TRIAL!
The D-DAY BABIES turn 3 years old
5 AUG 2009: Martine was already on her way to her RAE & is ranked nationwide in Rally, and Dare had finished
his UD already and was an all-breed High In Trial dog. Their merle sister Sophia was working towards her therapy
dog status (done) & is a happy CGC companion. Sadly this litter seems snakebit. Not only did most of the pups
die that first month, but in 2010 only Sophia remains, Dare having died the summer of 2009 and his sister Martine
that same winter. Shown below in happier times.

Dare is Dina Whitehouse's new puppy, so will go to live with his daddy Guidon. Click here for Dare's building page........

This entire litter was spayed/neutered without offspring.
Dare, Martine & Sophia (the
merle) shown below (from left to right) as babies.
Below shows an odd
event for the high plains of West Texas, nearly a thousand miles from the shore: a beach ball showed up in our
training field early one morning after a strong south wind had blown here all night. We go out to get the paper
(pups and me) and here is this beach ball just sitting in the middle of the field...immediate "pup attack"
ensued....

THE D-DAY BABIES: DOB 08-05-06.
When we named them the "D-Day
Litter" (for their date of conception; born August 5th, 2006), we didn't expect the majority of them to be
slaughtered on the beaches of being born. But that was what happened: their mother lost her milk (gained a horrible
infection), & so this stud dog litter arrived unexpectedly on my doorstep with major issues--and so 2/3s of
what seemed a most promising litter was lost in the first week of life. Gone were 5 promising males, including
four show marks (a Harl male & 3 Mantles, plus a mantled merle boy) & a fierce mantled merle girl. Shown
above at 21 days (exactly 3 weeks old) are the three survivors--the DARWIN THREE-- "Dare" the Harlequin
boy, "Martine" the Harlequin girl & their merle sister "Sophia." We in ChromaDane treasure
what we salvaged from this most savage event. In honor of those gone & as a reminder of the little power we
can have in the face of nature, we offer Alfred Lord Tennyson's immortal thoughts from In Memorium:

Are God and Nature then at strife
That Nature lends such evil dreams?
So careful of the type she seems,
So careless of the individual life.
