Born spring of 2003, this Pirate daughter out of an Ego daughter was being grown out at CHROMA. She was already pointed towards her Championship, a working, certified (TDI, CGC) therapy dog, and had her first working title (RN), when she was suddenly taken by GDV (bloat--the same disease that killed her mother) when barely two years old. We mourn her loss.

Kalei was always the life of the party & gave us all the "best of times" just as her 2005 Dogs In Review ad said & you can see here with her handler Paige McCarver. Kalei was supposed to be Scott Thompson's foundation bitch, but he died suddenly in the spring of 2003, and so I agreed to take on the responsibility of seeing that Scott's dreams for her were fulfilled. However I could not keep her here on this earth. She died in the same city (Houston) as Scott-both away from their home in the west--and nearly to the day at the same time as him--two springs later. They were both taken unexpectedly & in the prime of life. Well Scott, you always wanted her & I guess she wanted more than anything to be with you too. Enjoy her smiles. We always did. |

Although Paige McCarver usually showed
this co-own of mine that I bought, at this Specialty show I showed her, as I promised Scott the year before, when
he was too ill to go, that we'd all go next year & I'd show Kalei at the Great Dane Club of El Paso's Speciality
for him. Kalei was a doll to show as you can see. I really enjoyed having her. Thanks to Randi Kerlinger, her co-owner
& her breeder for letting me have her. Scott--we STILL miss you, guy! I hope having Kalei with you makes you
laugh. We miss her a lot.
