CHROMADANE AGILITY ABILITY THRU THE GENERATIONS: RESULTS FROM THE 2011 NATIONAL:
THE DOCTORS ROCKED IT!
Dr. Carrie with her 6 yo Mantle VOLTAIRE was the first to qualify in agility. He is sire to three 2 yo girls who rocked it at the National
too, including Dr. Gwen's Mantle KELDA
who picked up 8 titles in 7 days, and Dr. Sue's two girls RIDDLE
& MARQ(ee), who both took Firsts. But let's not forget Dr. Sue's three
9 yo Danes, who also rocked the National: SHAYMUS, QUIZZY
& JOKER (the last two the dams of the 2 yo daughters of Voltaire) were
amazing, qualifying in agility & rally both! SOme details below:
The 2011 GDCA nationals had an impressive showing in AGILITY with 23 entries and Chroma had 7 of them. The theme
of the day was indeed black, white and blue with Chroma taking a blue in each event they qualified in. Voltaire
led off with the first Q of the day (& 1st first place) in OpenP FAST. He demonstrated his athleticism by recovering
from a crash over the first jump of the send (the early am grass was slick) to sail over the second jump cleanly.
Riddle followed in her Daddy's footsteps with getting a Q and a first in Nov B Fast in high style. Standard was
again dominated by Chroma with Quizzy winning first in EXC B and Kelda grabbing the blue in Open. Jumpers with
weaves was in the heat of the day, despite this Kelda repeated her first place performance by winning the Open
class and finishing her OAJ--so its on to Excellent there as well. All of the Chroma crew showed great in spite
of temps near 90 degrees. Dr. Sue had a grueling day with 15 agility runs in addition to 8 rally runs. In the end
she let the very willing scrub team run the youngsters in JWW. Riddle and Marquis quickly let their substitute
handlers know they didn't quite cut it, but the subs felt privileged to give it a shot. (Carrie)
RALLY RESULTS:
Riddle was 2nd (95) in NovB & MarQ(ee) Q'd.
Joker was 1st (99) in OpenB (highest rally score in trial for this 9 yo Harl girl!), Kelda was 2nd (98), &her
momma Quizzie was 4th (97) & brother Shaymus Q'd! What a family affair! In ExB,Quizzie was 2nd (92) & got
an RAE leg, 4th went to Shaymus (80), so also got an RAE leg.

COMING BACK TO THE AGILILITY INVITATIONAL IN 2009! This is the 3rd year in a row all three Catasticks were in the

ONLY FIVE DOGS FROM ANY GIVEN BREED ARE GIVEN AN INVITATION ANNUAL TO THE AKC-EUKANUBA
NATIONAL TRIALS. LAST THREE YEARS RUNNING HERE IS OUR RECORD: 2007: TWO of that FIVE for AGILITY came from CHROMA
& 2008: TWO again come from our BREEDING PROGRAM, plus also produced THE ONLY DANE IN 2008 ELIGIBLE FOR THE
OBEDIENCE NATIONAL INVITATIONAL. 2009 saw THREE of the FIVE competing in AGILITY from CHROMA & the #1 Obedience
Dane, only qualifier, was a ChromaDane also.

ORION GAINS HIS AXJ WITH ALL FIRST
PLACES! Finishing with a wicked fast time of 30 seconds (SCT 42), "The BIG O" is out for MACH points
now!

Seems the CATASTICK had a good year with Susan Robinson DVM adding Masters legs to alll three
of her crew and getting MACH points on all of them to boot! All are AX, AXJ dogs now; all are working towards their
UDs as well as towards Masters level in agility. They all also have their Rally Excellent titles. Currently Shaymus
has 14 MACH points & 3 MX & 2 MXJ legs, Joker has 11 MACH pts, two MX & one MXJ leg, and Quizzy has
26 pts & 5 MXJ legs with one QQ! All three also have RAE legs and are working towards UD Q's.
Quizzie has qualified for the AKC AGILITY
INVITATIONAL!

PIRATE: A NATURAL ATHLETE!
PIRATE is the only Great Dane to date to be ranked in all sports (agility, obedience, rally and breed),
and the only BISS CH DANE male that has ever agility-titled. He is the sire of the first breeding of two agility
titled danes (CatxPirate) and he & his sister Picabo
(seen below) have offspring competing successfully in
all three rings. His 1/2 brother Guidon is our only current UDX male.
PIRATE (like his sister Picabo) has
multiple offspring ranked in multiple sports--nevermind conformation winners too. Click here for more on his "dual-ring" working offspring.
In Monroe LA the summer
of 2004, PIRATE Q's in 7 of 8 runs, with 3 Firsts & 4 Seconds, and picks up his OA, his AXJ & two legs
towards his AX. He was a consistent performer: clean in 7 of 8 runs (handler error cost him one refusal), and in
time 7 of 8 runs, despite his great size. Pirate
was the first Champion male Dane to achieve the Excellent level (& one of less than a dozen Danes total to
be eligible for Excellent B). Also a Group & SBIS winning dog & ranked in Obedience & Rally as well,
he is certainly not only well-rounded, but excelling in more than one venue & we are naturally proud of him
& happy to see his offspring carry on the tradition. Born in 1998, he's mostly retired these days. Pirate celebrated
his 9th birthday in OCT 2007.

Pirate & his sister Picabo are the first littermates
to get agility titles (and in both AKC & NADAC). Both were ranked every year they competed, and the same can
be said of their offspring.
They now are the only pair of littermates with offspring
invited to the AKC National Agility Invitational.
We are happy to know our dogs are always considered
competitive & rank well despite our splitting our time between various endeavours such as conformation, obedience,
therapy, agility, etc.

Picabo aka O-NAC-NJC-CHROMA TROMPE L'OEIL-CD-OA-NAJ-NJP-CGC-TDIA
PICABO
O-NAC-NJC-CHROMA TROMPE L'OEIL-CD-OA-NAJ-NJP-CGC-TDIA
PICABO (pronounced Peek-a-boo) is the first Great Dane with an O-NAC and one
of first to title in NADAC, nevermind one of the first to also compete successfully in AKC agility. She was listed
among the top ten in Danes in 2001. In 2002 she had a litter, so did not compete. In 2003 she began competing with
her junior handler Joseph Whitehouse, and completed more titles in agility, as well as in Rally and obedience.
Proud mother of pups & grandpups also out competing, she had one litter which has gone on to many breed firsts:
Not only a Versatility winning CH/CD daughter (Frenchie), but a son shown above (Orion) with several breed firsts
and a dog ranked in all sports for several years, then her National Specialty HIGH IN TRIAL daughter Rosie, and
last, but certainly not least, her #1 Dock-Diving daughter (Charm). All this from her only litter --see their page
& there links! Picabo was 9 years old in OCT 2007 & is still going strong.

Our dogs are most certainly competitive, but
we participate in agility less to achieve titles than as part of a "renaissance" approach to breeding
a "working dane" that includes bench or breed conformation shows, therapy work, and competitive obedience
& agility.
