OCTOBER'11

RESULTS FROM THE NATIONAL: THE DOCTORS ROCKED IT!

RALLY RESULTS: Riddle was 2nd (95) in NovB & MarQ(ee) Q'd. Joker was 1st (99) in OpenB (highest rally score in trial for this 9 yo Harl girl!), Kelda was 2nd (98), &her momma Quizzie was 4th (97) & brother Shaymus Q'd! What a family affair! In ExB,Quizzie was 2nd (92) & got an RAE leg, 4th went to Shaymus (80), so also got an RAE leg.

RESULTS FROM THE NATIONAL: THE DOCTORS ROCKED IT! Dr. Carrie with her 6 yo Mantle VOLTAIRE was the first to qualify in agility. He is sire to three 2 yo girls who rocked it at the National too, including Dr. Gwen's Mantle KELDA who picked up 8 titles in 7 days, and Dr. Sue's two girls RIDDLE & MARQ(ee), who both took Firsts. But let's not forget Dr. Sue's three 9 yo Danes, who also rocked the National: SHAYMUS, QUIZZY & JOKER (the last two the dams of the 2 yo daughters of Voltaire) were amazing, qualifying in agility & rally both! SOme details below: The 2011 GDCA nationals had an impressive showing in AGILITY with 23 entries and Chroma had 7 of them. The theme of the day was indeed black, white and blue with Chroma taking a blue in each event they qualified in. Voltaire led off with the first Q of the day (& 1st first place) in OpenP FAST. He demonstrated his athleticism by recovering from a crash over the first jump of the send (the early am grass was slick) to sail over the second jump cleanly. Riddle followed in her Daddy's footsteps with getting a Q and a first in Nov B Fast in high style. Standard was again dominated by Chroma with Quizzy winning first in EXC B and Kelda grabbing the blue in Open. Jumpers with weaves was in the heat of the day, despite this Kelda repeated her first place performance by winning the Open class and finishing her OAJ--so its on to Excellent there as well. All of the Chroma crew showed great in spite of temps near 90 degrees. Dr. Sue had a grueling day with 15 agility runs in addition to 8 rally runs. In the end she let the very willing scrub team run the youngsters in JWW. Riddle and Marquis quickly let their substitute handlers know they didn't quite cut it, but the subs felt privileged to give it a shot. (Carrie)

JULY'10

In two weekends KELDA gained TWO TITLES, Rally Novice & Beginner Novice, gett ing all three legs for the RN in a weekend, & winning a large BG class with a score of 195-all at just 15 months! Stayed tuned as by her the next trial weekend she'll likely be: SR CHROMA Druidess Pictsie, BN, RN, CGC Kelda is the first to title & certify is this breeding of Voltaire & Quizzy & is looking 'round the corner to more fun to come! Congrats to Drs. George & Gwen on their recent wins. Both their other Danes gained Rally titles too--Gracie her RA & Tug his RN! Like Gwen says--Go Danes Go!

DARE & ROSIE are both again ranked nationally by the prestigious Delaney system. The Delaney rating system ranks all dogs in AKC obedience who place 1st thru 4th in all AKC Open and Utility classes during a given calendar year. AMOUR's son ZEN IS A CERTIFIED THERAPY DOG AS A JUNIOR: congrats to Paula & Zen on their completing the TDinc. training & bravo for their volunteer spirit!

A SUMMARY FROM CARRIE FROM THE USDAA NATIONALS: Voltaire's 2009 agility exploits included participation in the USDAA Nationals (Cynosport World Games) where he was the only Dane entered. He ran in traditional USDAA events as well as the European courses. The highlight was a spectacular snooker run that required us to negotiate a path inbetween and around a maze of jumps. Many teams took off course jumps that ended the run early... We did a 5, 6, and a 7 then completed the closing! See course map. Voltaire, being Voltaire attracted a lot of attention and applause even showing up in a USDAA article and on a well known trainer's blog. 2010 will involve another mix of venues with a goal to get the AKC Excellent Fast title (one leg short). QT wins a 4th placement in an extra large (57!) Futurity class. We were so proud of her & thrilled that no less than Mary Anne Zanetos "spotted" her! QT was found also in the regular classes, getting a 2nd place from Sue Yotive (while bribing her with a kiss). We had such fun--more on our 2009 National trip HERE.

MARTINE finishes her Rally Excellent (RE) title the same day she completes her Companion Dog (CD) title--and at the Great Dane National Specialty Show! Congrats to Dr. Broxann Spencer, who also took Highest Scoring Harlequin at the Obedience/Rally Trials at the National, as well as winning <G>oldest handler too. Broxann also finished an RN on her nine month old Mantle dog Rene that day. Congrats-that's THREE TITLES in ONE DAY! WoW !!! Martine shown left with a small friend & her owner, is now: CHROMA NORMANDY INVASION CD RE A CGC: Titled at 6 months, she is the youngest ever in the breed to gain a Rally title & is ranked in the Top 10. WHAT A WEEKEND! Dina's Rosie wins Utility B twice, picks up 10 OTCH points and gets a 197 in Open B to end up High Combined, while Dare finished his CD going High in Trial, then wins Open A on a move up the next day!

ROSIE'S HALFWAY TO HER UDX! Rosie picked up two more UDX legs back-to-back in Albuquerque in August 2008, then two more again in Alamagordo in October, picking up both placements and OTCH points all along the way. And in Alamogordo she won Utility B twice, gaining 10 more OTCH points, and took a 2nd in Open B (with a 197!) to the HIT dog to go High Combined at an all breed show! CURRENTLY the #1 UTILITY DANE!
